As a junior, Ben was consistently ranked amongst the top players in his age group nationally and throughout Europe. Ben was a finalist in the 16 and under British National Championships and competed at Junior Wimbledon in 2009. After making the quarter finals of the 16 and Under Junior Orange Bowl in Miami, Ben travelled extensively around the world competing on the Junior ITF tour picking up three titles from five finals and was ranked just outside the top 200 in the world under 18’s. During this time Ben recorded wins over both Bjorn Frantangelo and Luca Vanni, both players who have gone on to be ranked in the ATP top 100 respectively.
As well as this, Ben garnered the experience of working with coaches such as Brad Gilbert (former coach to Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, Andy Murray), Paul Annacone (former coach to Pete Sampras, Tim Henman, Roger Federer) and Leon Smith (GB Davis Cup Captain). Ben gained his first ATP ranking at 17 before going over to the USA where he had a successful college career competing for Middle Tennessee State University; living in Nashville, Tennessee for four years and graduating with a degree in Marketing/Finance.
Ben played predominantly at number one in singles and doubles for his team, recording wins against players ranked top 10 in the collegiate NCAA tennis rankings; as well as achieving a top 75 singles ranking and top 25 doubles ranking himself. Ben has coached performance players and club players alike; previously working at Cumberland Lawn Tennis Club in West Hampstead, London and the Lloyd Neck Bath Club in Long Island, New York.
